The Cook Islands

We have been creating pure gold coins since 1994, under the authorisation of the Government of the Cook Islands.
The production has been entrusted to the British Royal Mint, the oldest mint in the world which has a long history of 1200 years.
On one side of the coin is Queen Elizabeth II, as Cook Islands are part of the Commonwealth, on the other side are some figures of animals in danger of extinction, which change every year.
Design is by two artists: Mr. Robert Elderton, an expert in design for coins and medals who has worked for the Royal Mint for a long time, included in the famous book “100 British artists”, and Mr. Christian Rease Lassen, who mostly designs creatures of the sea such as dolphins, whales, killer whales.
