In the 1990s, Akira Miura and his son Yuki identified a growing trend of wearing and collecting 24-karat gold coins as jewelry.
Realizing the potential of this market, they approached several countries to explore coin production opportunities. The Cook Islands responded enthusiastically, leading to the release of a new coin each year since 1994 as part of the “Mother’s Love Coin” collection. One side of the coin features the head of Queen Elizabeth II, now King Charles, while the other side depicts a female endangered animal with her offspring.
